Election is the heart of the democratic process. Election is the process by which the nation' s politicalleaders are chosen. Election is also the process by which politicalleaders are made accountable to the people whom they represent through the process of recall, initiative and referendum.
Elections in the Philippines is not a modern day phenomenon.
The Philippines has amply demonstrated that election, even during pre-colonial times, was part of the fabric of politicallife.
This workrepresents animportantcontribution to the understanding of Philippine political life because it chronicles Philippine elections from the earliest times to the present. It serves as a valuable addition to the book on PoliticaI Parties in the Philippines.
